Biography

Gilda is a landscape oil painter based in Southern California. She began painting and drawing at a very young age. She was unable to attend art school to pursue a formal education in the arts. However, the desire and passion never left her and she always longed to return to her first love of painting. As a self taught artist, she immersed herself in learning the fundamentals of visual arts, participated in many art classes and followed the teachings of the American landscape painting masters like Scott Christensen and Matt Smith. After studying the works of Monet and Sargent, her style developed into capturing the beauty of the natural world through impressionism with bold brush strokes and vivid colors.

Her journey has been a lifelong pursuit of her dream of being an artist. An avid trail runner and nature photographer, she finds her inspiration while on mountain trails, beaches and on her road trips around the country. Her body of work explores the play in light, color harmonies by creating captive compositions and visual contrast between natural elements. Her process starts by being fully immersed in the scenery and capturing the emotion it evokes. She strives for others to find comfort in the serenity of nature through her eyes and to hold a piece of it in their hearts.
